Dr. Canion is our primary doctor here at LaPorte Animal Hospital! She is very compassionate and intelligent, providing the best care possible for your pets!

Dr. Weitzel

Dr. Weitzel is the owner of LaPorte Animal Hospital! He occasionally practices at the hospital, but mainly supports us from afar, making sure we have everything we need!

Heartland Small Animal Rescue

Heartland is a local animal rescue that LaPorte Animal Hospital partners with. They have many fosters that volunteer their time and homes to helping small animals that have been abused or neglected. All of their animals come through LaPorte or either of our sister clinics, Meyer Veterinary Hospital and Porter County Pet Clinic. We provide full exams, vaccinations, heartworm treatments, surgeries, dentals, and anything else they may need before adoption.

SilverStray Social provides a free clinic on one Saturday a month for vaccines in Gary, Indiana. For the last 2 months, LaPorte Animal Hospital has volunteered its time to give out Rabies vaccines to dogs and cats in need. We partnered with Elanco to donate 100 Rabies vaccines on top of the 300 vaccines that SilverStray had already raised this month. SilverStray also partners with grooming facilities, independent groomers, and pet stores for free nail trims, toys, collars, and pet food during these events.
